Blue Iris were appointed to manage the design, procurement and construction of new facilities for one of the leading London Ballet Schools. The scope included five dance and rehearsal studios one of which is a public performance space plus fitness suite, music practice suite, teaching space and administrative offices.
The Blue Iris Partnership are retained by the client to provide on-going property and construction advice.
Central Bedfordshire Council | £ Confidential | Programme / Project Management
Blue Iris were appointed as Programme Managers to oversee the development of a pilot batch of school remodelling projects designed to support a change from 3-tier to 2-tier education provision. A streamlined feasibility reporting processes was developed that following detailed site visits, assessed risk and opportunities over a number of key aspects including topography, tenure, planning and logistics to inform viability and strategy.
Department for Education | £ 35m | Lead Technical Advisor/ Project Management
As part of the Department for Education’s Further Education Transformation Programme, revitalisation of the college’s built assets will be achieved through the demolition and replacement of three existing blocks that are currently in end-of-life condition. Brought in during the latter part of feasibility, to revitalise the project, Blue Iris supported Atkins Realis in their role as Lead Technical Advisor to manage the project from RIBA stage 2-4.
Surrey County Council | £ 15m | Client Representative
Identified as one of the worst conditioned schools nationally, the intention is to relocate the five-form-entry Junior school from its current site within a Grade I / Scheduled Listed Monument to a new site one mile away.
Blue Iris were appointed to represent the school through the feasibility process providing support on matters such as technical design, transport options, overall management and stakeholder engagement.
Department for Education | 20 plus projects £5m-£70m | Client Representative / Project Manager
Through a partnership with multi-disciplinary firm Tetra Tech, Blue Iris are appointed on the DfE Project Management Framework to provide Project Management support
on multiple commissions. Blue Iris are responsible for oversight at different stages in the project lifecycle from pre-feasibility, design, construction and post-handover for a wide variety of projects across school delivery and refurbishment programmes.

Phased block replacement on a live, operational, and highly constrained site in north London. Blue supported the DfE and Atkins Realis through the budget challenges and ministerial approval of the feasibility study through to appointment of a design and build contractor.
Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust | £4m | Full project management, NEC4 contract administration
The refurbishment of an existing wing at the Royal Free London Hospital provided a new day-case surgery ward to replace existing out-of-date facilities and provide contingency space for the winter peak.
Project scope included a complete strip-out of the existing ward back to structure, construction of new ensuite bathrooms, new bed bays, ancillary rooms and new service provisions including medical gases, ventilation, water services, nurse call.
Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust

The project brief was to double the PET capacity of Department of Nuclear Medicine and equip them with state-of-the-art machines that provide a greater level of resolution, facilitate lower doses of radio-pharmaceuticals and increase greater throughput. The remodelling programme re-purposed under-utilised space within the department ready to receive two new scanning machines.

Contract Administration
Blue Iris supported the Trust’s internal project management team by providing contract administration services on a series of projects to deliver carbon-saving technologies across Mount Vernon and Hillingdon Hospital sites. The Salix grant funded projects included separate contracts for LED lighting upgrades throughout the estate, solar panel installation on three buildings and a window replacement programme in a live maternity block.
The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust | Multiple projects £100k-£5m | Full Project Management
At the height of the Covid 19 pandemic, Blue Iris were appointed to manage a series of adaptions and interventions to the A&E department by adapting patient pathways and implementing additional infection control measures to meet the high-demand of infectious patients through the winter season.
The programme included reconfiguration of the Clinical Diagnostics Unit, new staff changing facilities, new external canopy, and new ventilation systems to the A&E waiting areas.

Blue Iris were appointed to complete a triage role on a programme of delayed minor works projects including the maternity Wi-Fi roll out, treatment room configuration, telephone exchange upgrade and junior doctors rest accommodation. Once the status and viability of each project was assessed, Blue Iris managed the projects, coordinated with clinical leads, Trust facilities and ICT teams to set a clear brief and programme and lead the projects to the point of procurement.
S&C Slatter | £5m | NEC4 Sub Contract Administration
The Blue Iris Partnership have supported S&C Slatter in their role as primary subcontractor to a Tier 1 main contractor throughout the design and construction of this HS2 Legacy project to provide a new clubhouse and pitches for the WGAA. Blue Iris have manged the NEC4 subcontract throughout the supply chain including CE and EW management and risk reduction workshops .

Pre-construction services Design Management
The programme was funded by a Salix grant and Blue Iris realigned the programme scope to meet budget and carbon reduction constraints, managed the design team and oversaw the integration of specialist contractors into the design and construction elements.
